Learning About Vulvocandidiasis

Venereal diseases come in all sorts and sores. If it doesn’t itch, it probably is swelling. Or in some cases, “smelling”. The fact that venereal diseases are preventable entitles it to a spot in the list of “least likely to catch” diseases. But because of the promiscuity of the generation today, this status is not reached by any of the venereal diseases. In the end, since it targets the infection and the diseases of the genital areas of each gender, it becomes one of the most embarrassing things that can happen to anybody.

Venereal diseases have a lot of pathological origins. They can be either bacterial or viral or maybe even protozoal. In this article, we discuss a protozoal infection of the vagina. This is caused by the albicans and non-albicans species of yeast. Around 250 species of yeast which are isolated from humans are able to cause genital infections. There are infections such as Torulopsis and Vulvocandidiasis.

This type of yeast is transmitted to another person through sexual intercourse and this type of yeast is more resistant to therapy in the long run. It is also believed the around 3/4 of women will attain at least one episode of Vulvocandidiasis while an alarming 40-45% will have a recurrent episode. Of this 75% who will have a vulvocandidiasis episode, around 5% will have retractable infection. One of the most puzzling things about this diseases is that even though sexual transmisson is used to transfer the yeast, the role of its transmission in promoting infection is still unclear.

With regard to the pathogenesis of the mechanism of the yeast, it has yet to be defined as it will be in the future. It is believed that colonization happens throughout the perianal areas. There is still no clue as to how many organisms are related to the onset and occurrence of the disease but there are indeed several other factors that may either make worse or be responsible for the disease.

These factors include disease states such as the presence of diabetes or AIDS. These types of diseases are able to positively affect the growth of the yeast infection thereby making the condition worse. Other factors that also contribute to the propagation of the disease are medications that one might be taking while infected, oral contraception and the degree of the yeast organism’s attachment to vaginal epithelia. The most common symptom of this particular is vulvovaginal itching with or without vaginal discharge. In most cases, the common therapy or cure for this type of condition is the administering of clotrimazole for the yeast infection.

This is only one part of the many different types of diseases that a person may get if he or she is not careful enough to stick to one partner or maybe just abstain from any sexual contact before having the partner tested. It is very important to be careful when handling these types of diseases simply because they are something serious and therefore should be taken seriously as well.
